If you are looking for a romantic getaway, don't search any further than the Crossroads Hotel downtown in the Crossroad District. I took my husband there for a date night over Christmas break and it was truly exquisite - definitely, we will go back!!! The atmosphere is historic, downtown Kansas City with a unique and urban feel but had a very welcoming, friendly, and relaxing atmosphere. Lazia is one of the restaurants but is only partially opened due to the pandemic. That said, it will not go unrecognized with it's delish Buffalo Mozzarella to its Cannelloni. The next evening we had heavy appetizers and drinks at the hotel lobby bar, XR. Amazing service, extensive cocktail menu, craft beers, and outstanding options from Sausage and Peppers Pizza to Corn and Truffle Pizza. Make it a bucket list, the only thing we couldn't do is visit the Percheron Rooftop beer garden, I cannot wait to go back and try it! Book your staycation today!!!

When visiting Grinders for the first time, make sure to enjoy the appetizers and amazing pizza. Once your bellies are full, stretch your legs and take a walk around the neighborhood. You will find walls full of unique and beautiful artwork. Small hidden gems of local artists craftsmanship.

Christopher Elbow Chocolates is its own special kind of boutique! An assortment of different chocolates ranging in size, color, flavor and style! A must try if you are new, visiting or just live in the Kansas City area!

This is a new fun way to view a food court. There are seven different restaurants inside this tri-level building with two bars so you can enjoy a cocktail or beer with lunch or dinner. This is definitely a must try!!

Kansas City's Crossroads District is home to Cafe Gratitude. A local vegan restaurant serving organic whole food plant based dishes. They have something for everyone from nachos to poke bowls & lasagna, to desserts, smoothies, shakes and even a wine and beer, the choice is yours! Cafe Gratitude is also big on sustainability as the restaurant is solar powered and features tables made of reclaimed wood, lighting made of wine bottles and amazing hand painted art on the walls. The atmosphere was very comfortable and the wait staff as friendly as can be. If you are looking for a healthy meal in a great atmosphere, this is the place!

The fourth annual Empty Bowls fundraiser to benefit Harvesters will take place on November 2, 2018 from 6:00-9:00 p.m. at Artstech KC in the Crossroads Art District. Local talented Kansas City ceramic artists create unique bowls that they donate to this amazing fundraiser. Tickets are required and everyone who pays for a ticket gets one of the donated ceramic bowls. During the evening of the fundraiser, soup is served in this bowl. The attendants get to take their bowl home with them as a keepsake. The Empty Bowls fundraiser benefits Harvesters which donates food to local food pantries.

If you haven't been to Messenger Coffee you are missing out! Located at 16th and Grand, between Downtown and Crossroads, it is a must for coffee lovers! This is a happening place. I went on a Friday at around 10:00 a.m. and the place was very busy. Messenger Coffee is a very clean and modern facility with great service, great atmosphere, great food and great drinks; coffee, mocha, lattes, etc. The place is huge! Messenger Coffee has three levels, a roof deck, and their own roasting facility and bakery. It definitely did not disappoint and I can't wait to go back!

If you are ever in the Crossroads District in Kansas City, you can't help but notice the big Western Auto sign on top of the Western Auto Building, This Kansas City landmark, built in 1914, is also known as the Coca Cola Building or the Candler Building.

The building is on the corner of 21st and Grand and is home to the Western Auto Lofts. The Western Auto sign is illuminated and lights up the Kansas City skyline. It is one of Kansas City's great historical buildings.

If you enjoy listening to music, you will not want to miss this annual music event right here in Kansas City Crossroads. During Labor Day weekend you will have the opportunity to listen to over 50 different local, regional, and national musical artists that will be performing on 12 stages.
You can listen to these talented artists as they perform songs from different genres and musical styles.

CrossroadsKC at Grinders is located in the heart of the KC Crossroads district (18th Street). In 2018, they are in their 12th season of providing a musical experience in a small outdoor venue that is raved about by many. CrossroadsKC at Grinders does an excellent job of featuring diverse musical groups for the fans to enjoy: hip-hop, reggae, rock, bluegrass, alternative, and more. They also have a great restaurant that serves a variety of food and drinks. Be sure to check out their website for tickets to upcoming events and parking.

Acoustics, acoustics, acoustics! I can't say enough about the amazing sound in the auditorium. If you want to witness some extraordinary and unique performances by exceptional artists with acoustics that are top notch, you need to make reservations for a performance at the Kauffman Center for the Performing Arts. It's just an amazing venue with beautiful architecture. Throughout the year, they host many events: symphonies, ballets, operas, concerts, and more. If you have a chance, check out their schedule of events as there is something for everyone! I would highly recommend that you come see a performance at this amazing venue.

The Crossroads in Kansas City is a great place to explore! You can spend the day walking and checking out this historic area. The Crossroads is considered Kansas City's main art gallery district and is known as the center for the cities visual arts. In the Crossroads, you will find many renovated industrial buildings and warehouses that have been turned into local businesses, art galleries, shops, and restaurants. The Crossroads is also home to one of the few Film Row Districts in the country.

A Kansas City original! Boulevard Brewing Company was established in Kansas City in 1989. The brewery has grown tremendously over the years and is now considered the largest specialty craft beer brewery in the entire Midwest. The brewery offers several different types of tours daily in which a ticket is required. I took the 45-minute brewery walking tour. It was a great tour with an amazing tour guide which ended with samples in the Tasting Room! The brewery has an eating area where you can dine and choose from an abundance of their beers. Don't forget their specialty store that includes apparel and bar ware available for purchase.

The Future Stages Festival is an annual event that takes place at the Kauffman Center for the Performing Arts. This is a free event that will display young local talent that you will not want to miss! You will be able to watch hundreds of young skilled performers take the stage and see many unique performance styles and participate in some fun art activities.

Every month, always the first Friday of the month, you have a fun event you can add to your calendar! It's First Friday's in the Crossroads Art District in Kansas City. It's such a great and lively way to spend a Friday Night. If you enjoy great food, art, people watching, and entertainment you won't want to miss this! You can enjoy viewing paintings, drawings, sculptures, and other art exhibits in the art galleries. There are also sidewalk vendors who will have items for you to purchase which are usually locals selling their products. One of my favorites is the street music you can usually find on street corners and the aerial performances by some talented individuals. Let's not forget about the food and drinks! There are plenty of restaurants to choose from. However, you will find an abundance of food trucks serving great food at reasonable prices. First Friday's is a great way to spend a nice summer evening!

A new apartment building has just opened up at 1723 Walnut. The Crossroads has been a vibrant growing part of Downtown Kansas City for over a decade now and this new building continues the trend of increasing population density for the area. The building contains a mix of studio, one and two bedroom layouts. Currently this building is rental only and a great place to stay while you save for that first loft purchase!

Located in a trendy part of town, Etiquette is a cozy oasis open to those wanting to treat themselves to some great pampering and self care. This chic spot offers a menu of various spa treatments such as: eyebrow shaping, waxing, facials, and even microblading! Price varies depending on treatment. Waxing ranges from $10 to $40; Eyelash Extensions from $65-$150; Facial Treatments from $65-$85.

Did I mention Etiquette has products available to buy? I am in love with the face lotion and serum provided. Even when I am applying Etiquette's products at home, I am reminded of the quality of care I will always go back to experience there. Etiquette truly is "thoughtful beauty". On the first Friday of every month, thousands of residents and visitors fill the sidewalks of the Crossroads in Kansas City, enjoying what has become the city's liveliest and most popular event. Arts organizations, galleries, studios, and a wide variety of local businesses feature regional and national artists as well as live entertainment starting at 5:00 p.m.

Best explored on foot, the First Friday tradition continues to grow with up to 10,000 attendees. Most make it an evening, with dinner and drinks from a colorful array of restaurants and entertainment venues.
