A little bit about Kearney. For the most part a bedroom community with most of the population commuting into the city for employment. Our time spent in vehicles is one of the reasons our City government has worked diligently to provide walking/biking trails all over Kearney. To our southern community border we have our largest trail that goes around Kearney High School and then following a very scenic route that even traverses under 33 Hwy around Greenfield subdivision wrapping back around Hawthorne Elementary, and completing your walk back to the High School.North of town, we have another almost 2 miles that winds around Jesse James Park and our Kearney Amphitheater, and another trail in Mack Porter Park. All of these trails are provided by the City of Kearney and really add to the quality of life of the area.
