The River Market is an amazing place, but it gets even better on the weekends! The River Market holds a Vintage Sale every weekend (weather permitting). This event includes up to 60 vendors who have antiques, vintage items, collectibles, and a variety of gently used and unique items for sale. You just never know what you might find. However, with the great assortment of vendors, there should be something for everyone. The Vintage Sale is open during the regular Farmer’s Market hours.

The River Market has a lot to offer. However, I think it has some of the best places to eat. While strolling the River Market you might want to check out some of these eateries: The Farm House (farm-to-table comfort food),Harry's Country Club (great Happy Hour), Baby Cakes (gourmet specialty treats), The Bite (very tasty Mexican-Korean eatery), City Market Coffee (perfect cup of coffee), and Beignet (New Orleans style dishes).

Beignet is a Louisiana themed eatery in River Market that is a hit with my family. They serve crepes, red beans and rice, jambalaya, gumbo, muffaletta, creole, Andouille sausage, and many more Cajun dishes. However, don't fill up! Save room for their delicious beignets! I've tried many and have not been disappointed! They also have gluten-free options.

The summertime and the Kansas City River Market go hand-in-hand! Enjoy the summer outdoors at the famed KC Farmer's Market buying fresh fruit fruits and vegetables, having a diverse dining experience, enjoying some Summit BBQ, doing yoga in the Park, riding on a street car, and just taking in the fresh summer air!! It's a great way to spend time outdoors in a fun environment!

I have been fortunate enough to attend the Arabia Steamboat Museum several times due to school field trip events. It did not disappoint either time. If anything, I liked it even better the second time. The Arabia Steamboat Museum contains artifacts that were salvaged from a steamboat named Arabia that sank in 1856, in the Missouri River. This 30,000 square foot museum claims to have the largest single collection of pre-Civil War artifacts in the world.

You will be amazed at the excellent condition of these artifacts. You will find out what they had to do during the excavation process to preserve the ship and artifacts that the ship contained. The process that they have to follow today to keep these artifacts in their superb condition and the history of the ship will also be explained. Some of the collection of thousands of artifacts that were preserved that were part of the daily life of the frontier such as clothes, shoes, knifes, hats, food, dishes, and more are on display for you to view.

One of my favorite things to do on a Saturday or Sunday morning/afternoon is to go to the Kansas City Farmer's market. We have the regions largest Farmers Market right here in Kansas City! The atmosphere, the food, and the people are just amazing! There are 140+ vendors available where you can purchase items such as fresh fruit and vegetables, a variety of meats, spices and herbs, beautiful cut flowers, and home-made baked goods and sweets just to name a few. If you are unable to make it to the Farmers Market on the weekend, they also have the Wednesday Mini Market on Wednesdays.

For the last two years Betty Rae's Ice Cream Shop has sold delicious treats in the Waldo neighborhood. Now they are expanding and will open a shop for the 2018 Summer season at 412 Delaware St, Suite D. The Kansas City street car stops out front too.The shop will offer all the frozen treats you and your family are used to plus a few surprising twists. There's a wide variety of dining and other shopping options nearby as well. The area is a perfect place for a family day or evening out.

This place is locally owned and makes the most delicious food! I remember when they opened in 2008 and I had my first burrito that very first week. They steam the cheese on the burrito wrapper before loading it up, brilliant! I don't think any other burrito joint does that. They obviously buy fresh veggies every day being located right in the City Market on the northwest side. The prices are very reasonable too but the lunch line can get a little long, so get there early!

My favorite place to eat in the River Market is the Blue Nile Cafe. They serve authentic Ethiopian Cuisine for lunch and dinner. The lunch buffet is the bustiest time and my personal favorite time to eat there. The food is a mix of spicy and mild and there are options for vegans as well as more traditional pallets. They also hold cooking classes and have bread and spices to go if you want to try making Ethiopian cuisine yourself. It's really some of the most mouthwatering comfort food I ever eat. Try The Blue Nile Cafe soon!

The Beyond the Loop project is well into the planning stages. The time for community feedback is now! The online survey below is the perfect chance to start voicing your opinion on how you want the downtown area to grow. This is more than simple urban maintenance though, the north loop project encompasses some plans to totally reconfigure and reclassify the loop. So if you have any current or future interest in downtown Kansas City and beyond please check out the information below.

Finding free things for the kids to do in a city can be tough. There's always the multitude of outdoor parks to check out. But what if it's winter or raining? Head down to Crown Center just a street car ride away from the River Market. On the ground level they have a wonderful play center for kids to use free of charge. Parking is also free on the weekends and can be validated for three free hours right at Funville on the weekdays. They have rotating themes where they totally gut and re-build the place a few times a year so it never gets old. Check it out!

The Broadway/O’Neil Bridge will need to be rehabbed or replaced in the coming years. This rehab is part of an overall project call Beyond the Loop that will consider how impacted communities want to grow and develop over the next 50 years. Public comments and input are happening now. Residents and those shopping for homes in the area are encouraged to give their thoughts and feedback. The next session will be held at iWerx, 1520 Clay St, North KCMO on clock Thursday, March 22 at 4:30 p.m. - 6:30 p.m.

The River Market has changed so much in the last ten years. New loft spaces have sprung up out of old abandoned lots and old buildings have been renovated into really cool spaces. New business and shopping options are everywhere compared to ten years ago. The new streetcar makes moving around downtown without a car a breeze. You can find loft space or traditional apartments. If you're looking for houses head to Columbus Park nearby.

Want to jazz it up a bit? The Phoenix in Kansas City is the place to be! Every Monday, The Phoenix has open mic night, followed by days of open jam, live music, swingin' Jazz brunches and much more. If you're interested in more than just the smooth and soulful sounds of Jazz that fill The Phoenix, have a blast with their colorful choice of drinks! Do you have an appetite for delicious too? Grub on some of the best food in town while you're at it. My favorite sandwich to eat while at The Phoenix would be the 8th & Central. It comes complete with a pan-seared KC Strip, Gorgonzola Aioli, Onion Straws, and Arugula served on French Bread. You have to try it!

The article below demonstrates the new wave of Millenials coming to Kansas City. Though renting is a popular choice currently, there is nothing like owning property and seeing the community, and the value of your home, grow before your eyes. Take the opportunity to own and see how Kansas City once again evolves into a vibrant city with plenty of entertainment and dining options.

Centropolis on Grand, located on the SE corner of 5th and Grand, will offer 56 market rate apartments. The building will be five stories and designed to complement other historic structures in the immediate neighborhood. The project is named after the Centropolis Hotel, which was adjacent to the current site and torn down in 1941. Work is tentatively scheduled to being in late spring of 2014.

Awesome food and atmosphere! Take a trip to the east side of the River Market and indulge yourself in a great dining experience. Garozzo's sits in the middle of a small neighbor. Frank Sinatra tunes greet you as you enter and continue to play throughout the evening. It's like you're in a restaurant in New York. I recommend the chicken spiedini, stuffed artichoke and a glass of red wine but that's what I like:) Everything on the menu is good. If you go once you will want to go again. Divertiti!
