I have been fortunate enough to attend the Arabia Steamboat Museum several times due to school field trip events. It did not disappoint either time. If anything, I liked it even better the second time. The Arabia Steamboat Museum contains artifacts that were salvaged from a steamboat named Arabia that sank in 1856, in the Missouri River. This 30,000 square foot museum claims to have the largest single collection of pre-Civil War artifacts in the world. You will be amazed at the excellent condition of these artifacts. You will find out what they had to do during the excavation process to preserve the ship and artifacts that the ship contained. The process that they have to follow today to keep these artifacts in their superb condition and the history of the ship will also be explained. Some of the collection of thousands of artifacts that were preserved that were part of the daily life of the frontier such as clothes, shoes, knifes, hats, food, dishes, and more are on display for you to view.
