When moving to Kansas City, many areas peaked my interest. Specifically, we were thinking Prairie Village, Fairway, Waldo, Brookside and South Kansas City. After looking at all of these great neighborhoods from an analytical perspective I realized:1) South Kansas City offers the most bang for your buck.2) Depending on where you live, you can be as close if not closer to all that the metro has to offer! To elaborate on that second point, South Kansas City offers seamless access to Martin City, Grandview, and all of the 119th Street and 135th Street retail/mixed use developments. In terms of travel time, you can be downtown or at the airport just as fast as someone who lives in Prairie Village that must navigate the surface streets before reaching the highway. Did I mention the Overland Park and Leawood spillover effect? Just because you live on the east side of State Line doesn't mean you can't enjoy Leawood's parks which are amazing and yet another benefit to South Kansas City. I love paying Missouri taxes and walking over to the nicest parks and recreation area I know of in Johnson County. If you are value minded and work south of the city, I don't know why you would bother looking anywhere else!
