Come on out this Saturday, May 20th, for another year of amazing wine, food, music, and fun. There will be nine wineries, three bands, a brewery, food trucks, and tons of fun. Admission is $35 and includes your wine glass, a WineFest wine bottle tote with logo, a sampling of wines at all the participating wineries, and all the fun you can have on a beautiful spring day. The event will start at Noon and end at 7:00 p.m.

October 1st and 2nd will mark the 34th annual Apple Festival in Weston. The event will be held in downtown Weston. There will be a parade, food and craft vendors, kid friendly activities, and more. If you have been looking forward to fall festivities, Apple Fest is a must see.

Last weekend my husband and I celebrated our 18th Anniversary and dined at one of our favorite places to eat, Avalon Cafe, located on the corner of Spring and Main Street overlooking the town and river in Weston. It offers an American Bistro fare from Elk strip loin to fabulous burgers to baked brie with fruit. Last visit I had encrusted, blackened salmon with spaghetti squash and mashed potatoes. Yum! We ended our dinner with the best dessert ever, Chocolate Pillars in Thunderclouds. It's a yummy as it sounds. It's been several years sine I have been to Weston State Park. Riding our motorcycle, I thought it seemed like a great day to explore. It has grown up considerably with more trails than we remembered. A play area for children with swings appeared midway through. The old tobacco barn still stands. The overlook to the Missouri River is fabulous. The trees were aglow with fall colors as we rode through. Take some time to enjoy any day you can get away.

Did you know that Weston has a great restaurant that serves BBQ? The Tin Kitchen in Weston has some of the best mouth watering Pulled Pork that you can get in the Kansas City area. The Brisket is delicious too. Order the fries with your meal and you have enough for the whole table. There are plenty of other sides to try as well. So, what are you waiting for? Hop in the car and head to Tin Kitchen on Main Street in Weston.

The Historic Weston Applefest will be held October 1st and 2nd, 2016. There will be a parade at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday. This event has many fun activities for the whole family. There will be children's activities, live music, Artisans, Fall Harvest Market and delicious food prepared by many local groups. Shops in town will also be open. There is a $1.00 donation for all over the age of 15. Please check westonmo.com for more information, as there will not be parking downtown. Shuttles will be provided for all.

Ready for the 4th? Everyone is looking forward to an event with the family celebrating our Independence Day. Weston plans ahead with an ice cream social and music starting at 2:00 p.m. on July 3rd, in Weston City Park. You will need a blanket and bug spray! On the 4th there is a parade beginning at 10:30 a.m. Stay in Weston after the parade for a purchased lunch or bring your own picnic lunch and supplies and join the family fun!

Weston will hold their 4th of July Parade on Monday, July 4th at 10:30 a.m. on Main Street. Come early and get a good spot to watch the parade. A community lunch with kids games and music will follow.

You scream, I scream, we all scream for ice cream. Weston Ice Cream Social will be Sunday, July 3, 2016 at 2:00 pm in the Weston City Park. Sounds delicious! Fill up and stay to hear the American Legion Band concert.

Green Dirt Farm has opened a storefront in Weston at 1099 Welt St. If you are not familiar with Green Dirt Farm, they raise grass-fed sheep that they milk north of Weston. They will be serving sandwiches at the new store using cheese from their farm and other local products such as the Hearth Bakery. Stop by for ice cream as well. The store will be open Thursday - Sunday. Hours are 11:00 a.m. - 7:00 p.m.
