The Meyer Circle Fountain was originally dedicated in 1925. Also knows as the "Sea Horse Fountain" it is the centerpiece of the traffic circle at Ward Parkway and Meyer Boulevard. However, following heavy flooding in 2015, the fountain ceased to work and required significant repairs which were outside of the Parks and Recreation's budget. Although, with the support of a concerned community, private donations funded a one million dollar renovation allowing it to re-open in October 2017. The statue of the sea horses itself, dates back to the 1700's, where it lived in Venice, Italy until JC Nichols purchased it and brought it to Kansas City in 1925. Sitting proudly in the center of the 80 foot pool, this fountain signifies the grandeur of the city and it's commitment to remain the city of fountains for years to come.
