Kearney, Missouri is located in Clay County about 15 minutes north of Kansas City and has a population of 8,381. Each September, the city hosts an annual festival celebrating its distinction as the birthplace of outlaw Jesse James. The James farm with the original house and Jesse James’s burial site are a popular tourist attraction. The Kearney School District serves about 3,500 families in Kearney and northern Clay County.
It's hard to believe I've lived in the Kearney community for 20 years now. My wife's family moved here when she was in middle school. The Kearney/Holt area has been a great place for putting down roots, raising our family and building our business. Kearney is located 20 minutes north of Kansas City with an excellent school system, many parks with connecting walking trails and two golf courses with a club house at the entrance of the Villas of MariMack and Estates of MariMack. During the summer, you can take advantage of the Amphitheater with regular live music and other events! However, since it's winter with snow on the ground, we like to swing into Cellar & Loft, a local wine and spirits restaurant where you can have great drink and delicious food. Another new business in town is the Kearney Culinary Academy. Last week, my wife had a girls evening out, prepping freezer meals and learning a few new tips in the kitchen.
