Here are a few activities and events happening in Lenexa.The annual Great Lenexa BBQ Battle is June 24 & 25, in Sar-Ko-Par Trails Park at 87th Street Parkway and Lackman Road. While teams are preparing their BBQ on Friday, plenty of entertainment and music will be available for the everyone. Admission is $5. The event is free on Saturday, which is when the judging will take place. Come out and try the best brisket, pork, ribs, sausage, chicken, and more! If you missed it this year, don't miss it next year!Freedom Run & Community Days Parade, July 4, in Old Town Lenexa. Celebrate Independence Day with around 1600 runners and walkers at the Freedom Run, then watch as dozens of businesses and organizations participate in the Community Days Parade. This year's theme is "Red, White and Royal". The parade is free for all and the Freedom Run has a registration fee for participants.Tails on the Trails will be August 13 in Ad Astra Pool and Park at 83rd St & Maurer Road. This event is one of Lenexa's most popular! Bring your pups and doggie's to the pool to cool off. Admission is free, but there is a registration fee for each dog. A variety of pet vendors from organizaitons will be available.
