Lenexa, Kansas, located in central Johnson County, is home to about 48,000 residents. The city of Lenexa is served by the award winning school districts of Olathe, Shawnee Mission and De Soto. The Lenexa Chili Challenge on October 14-15, 2016 is a fun event that people of all ages can enjoy! Hundreds of teams compete to see who can come out on top in the chili, salsa and hot wing contests. Friday night includes fireworks and live music. Saturday is when the contests start and when attendees can sample foods for free. Activities include the Hot Pepper Eating Contest and Kids Kornbread, a contest where children 12 and under can compete for making the best cornbread. The Chili Challenge will be held in Old Town Lenexa at Santa Fe Trail Drive and Pflumm Road.
