Summer is on its way out, and Liberty Parks and Rec is saying goodbye with a party at the City Park Sprayground on Aug. 16th. From 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m., the kids can enjoy Free Kona Ice, temporary glitter tattoos, and an amazing bubble party. Don't forget your sunscreen and towels!

Liberty Parks and Rec is having its annual golf tournament to raise funds for its Foundation Scholarship Fund. This fund ensures that no one is turned away from a Parks and Rec activity due to an inability to pay. This event will be held at Paradise Pointe Golf Course in Smithville.

The tournament is on August 15, and the Shotgun Start is at 8:00 a.m. Teams receive free range balls before the event, 18 holes of golf, with a cart, lunch, and a goodie bag for each player. Prizes will be awarded for: Golf Ball Launcher, Hole in One and 4 Ring Hole in One, Longest Putt, Longest Drive, and Closest to the Pin. One Mulligan per player. There will be a Silent Auction and a 50/50 raffle also. Register your team of 4 by August 1, 2025 ($480), and save $100.

What is Flamingle Night, you say? It's happening on the first Thursday in August, the 7th. Time is 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on and around the Historic Liberty Square. With your admission ticket ($40, $30 in advance), you'll receive a souvenir tasting glass, 20+ tropical drink samples, tasty snack stops, an event map, and tasting notes. You will be entered into a gift card giveaway at each stop. Only drinkers need tickets; non-drinkers are free. Check-in at 11 N. Gallatin and the fun begins!

Bring the whole family and visit with the Liberty Police Department and the Clay County Sheriff's Office on National Night Out, August 5th. Time is 6:30 p.m. - 8:30 p.m. in the Liberty City Hall parking lot.

There will be lots of free activities including: Ident-A-Kid, inflatables, a bubble party, a petting zoo, and Kona Ice. Let the kids explore the patrol cars and fire engines. Liberty Animal Control will also be there with pets you can adopt!

National Night Out is held annually to promote police/community partnerships, which make our City a safer place to live. And it's all free! Except for the pets, there is a small adoption fee.

Santa Claus is coming to town for Christmas in July at the Liberty Farmer's Market! This event will be Saturday, July 19th, 8 am to noon. Yes, Santa will indeed be stopping by the market on his way home from his summer vacation to spread early holiday cheer. He will stop by to hear early Christmas wishes and to share how toy production is going at the North Pole. Everyone is more than welcome to take their own pictures with Santa while out and about enjoying this historic market.

The real estate market in Liberty (Clay County), MO, has remained relatively steady through April 2025. Average sales prices have shown a slight increase year-to-date, up 2.3% to $366,375, while the median price rose 2.4% to $325,000. Although there’s been a small dip in the number of closed sales and pending contracts compared to last year, inventory has increased by 11%, giving buyers more options. Homes are spending an average of 45 days on the market, which is just slightly longer than last year. While sellers are still receiving close to their original asking prices, the percentage has dipped slightly to 98.8%. Overall, the Liberty market remains balanced, offering opportunities for buyers to find homes without the extreme competition seen in recent years.

Plus, the first 200 attendees can enjoy discounted admission to the outdoor aquatics area at the Liberty Community Center, just $5 per person for all ages, with free entry for members. Pool space and discounted admission to swim are limited.

Have you ever wanted to try kick-boxing? The Liberty Community Center, located at 1600 S. Withers Rd, in Liberty, will have a certified kickboxing instructor lead 30 participants through a high-energy class on May 17th. Come kick, punch and sweat it out at 10:00 a.m. Perfect for all fitness levels, you'll get a full-body workout. A LCC membership or day pass is required to register.

Join Liberty Parks and Rec for a barking good time at the Pup Cup Pop Up Saturday, May 10th, from 2-4pm. Come out and enjoy a beautiful spring day at Stocksdale Dog Park. Cool off with FREE Kona Ice for pups and humans and get a free caricature of your pet from one of two pet caricature artists that will be on hand. And, of course there will lots of furry friends. Camp Bow Wow, The Liberty Animal Shelter and more will also be there to party! Donations will be taken for the Liberty Animal Shelter so come on out and have a great time for a great cause.

Have you ever wondered what it would take to be a police officer? The Liberty Police Department has a Junior Police Academy that shows youth some aspects of police life. The program will run July 14-18, from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. Some of the topics covered with classroom learning and hands on activities include: fitness, patrol tactics, criminal investigations, traffic safety, self-defense and SWAT techniques. There are a limited number of openings and applications are due by May 12. Applications are available at the front office of any of the Liberty Middle Schools. The applications must include two recommendations, signed releases and waivers and a short essay.

Poolside Palooza starts off summer at the Liberty Community Center. On Friday, May 30th families can enjoy a fun filled evening with swimming, water-proof glitter tattoos and a showing of "The Wild Robot". Come hula hoop and play yard games with your friends. Minsky's Pizza and Kona Ice will be available outside the pool selling snacks to keep you fueled for the party. The first 200 will receive discounted admission to the outdoor pool area of the Community Center. Bring your lawn chairs, towels and blankets and enjoy the evening with the free movie under the stars. Swimming will run 6 - 8 p.m. Activities start at 7 p.m. and the movie will run at 9 p.m. Admission is $5.00 to swim for non-members, free for LCC members.

Liberty Parks and Rec will be hosting the Bad Rock Creek Disc Golf Tournament at Stocksdale Park for the Disc Golf Pro Tour. The first time the gold tour has been hosted in Liberty or even Missouri! The KC Wide Open will be on April 18-20. Spectators are welcome. There will be food trucks, vendor tents and 3 full days of disc golf. Gates will be open from 5:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m. There will be parking at William Jewell College and buses will shuttle you to the park. Passes are required to attend and are available online. Stocksdale Park will be closed to the public during this time. Come watch the pros throw!
