The real estate market’s pretty balanced right now. There’s about 2.76 months of inventory, which means homes are selling fast, and there aren’t a ton of options out there, so buyers are facing some competition. Interestingly, inventory’s gone up by 31.43% over the past year. That could mean more choices for buyers soon, but sellers might have to price their homes smartly to stand out. Houses are selling quickly—most are off the market in about 37 days. They’re also going for about 99.3% of the asking price, so buyers are willing to pay pretty close to what sellers are asking. The median sold price is holding steady at $355,000 ??, which is good news for sellers.
Overall, it’s a solid market for both buyers and sellers. Buyers need to move quickly, and sellers should price competitively to stay ahead. If you’re thinking about buying or selling, now’s a good time to make a move!

They broke ground on the Central Bank Sporting Complex on Friday, June 18th, 2021. This will have ten turf fields for many sports from baseball, football, soccer to lacrosse as well as other activities. The projected completion of the facility is late summer of 2022, just in time for fall sports leagues. The complex will have lighted parking and trail access for foot traffic from surrounding, future, neighborhoods as well as concessions, restrooms, and playgrounds. The Northland is so excited for this complex to open.

Three people were recently inducted into the Platte County Hall of Fame. Kevin Bryan, class of '75 who played sports and also coached football for Dekalb, West Platte and East Buchanan. Paul Whitters, class of '46 who played sports and also went on to support the school in various ways, including School Board member. Also inducted was Jane Wittmeyer, class of '73 who ran track in high school and went on to run track in college as well. Read the complete article attached. Platte County is a diverse area made up of many small towns and an area I've called home for 30 years. Many areas still have that small town feel while still being close to larger metropolitan areas. There is always something to do in Platte County from shopping, farmers markets, to unique and fine dining. Looking for something "new" and fun to do with the family? Check out one of Missouri's State Parks! Weston Bend State Park has one of the most expansive views of the Missouri River. It has several trail options for hiking or biking and the trails are cut on the edge of the Missouri River bluffs. Don't forget to pack a lunch to enjoy at one of their many scenic picnic areas! There is a playground for the kids and shelter area available to reserve for events. Many people don't know they also have campsites available with amenities like restrooms, hot showers and laundry facilities! And lastly, don't forget to bring your four-legged family members too! Weston Bend State Park now has a 1.75 acre dog park complete with a doggie water fountain, park bench and pet waste station!

Check out this unique and fun "free" event in Platte County! Boats and gear will be provided free of charge, but if you have your own canoe or kayak, feel free to bring it along. Beginning at 9:00 a.m. on July 15th, participants will get instruction on how to safely experience canoeing or kayaking with a paddle on the water. Platte County has many community events and festivals throughout each year, including the 14th annual Northland Ethnic Festival on Saturday, April 1, 2017 from 1:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. The free event at Park Hill South High School celebrates culture and ethnic diversity.

If you're a bike-rider, then this Jack & Coke is for you! The 8th annual Jack & Coke Bike Ride is scheduled for Saturday, May 20, 2017, and is a benefit ride for The American Cancer Society in memory of Jack Polson. The start/finish is at Park Hill High School, and the routes take the riders through many rural areas and small towns in Platte and Clay counties. Registration is open; start training now!

The new Kansas City North Menards MEGA Store located at 8901 N Green Hills Road, opened for business on January 31st and the parking lot has been full ever since. Menards is a family owned company that has been in business for almost 60 years with 305 stores throughout the Midwest, including recently opened stores in Belton, MO, Independence, MO and Olathe, KS.

Jeff Abbott, Menards spokesperson, stated that the company appreciates all the hard work and dedication from everyone involved in this massive project. The intent is to provide its customers with greater access to a truly full-line of building materials and supplies at the lowest price in the area Consistent with its reputation of having a complete selection of high-quality, name brand merchandise, tools for any job and state-of-the-art computers to assist in project design.

All the "normal" home improvement products are offered, along with brand name appliances, pet and wildlife products, lawn and garden supplies, plus convenience groceries as a one-stop shopping experience.

Check it out from Monday to Saturday from 6:30 a.m. to 10:00 p.m., with Sunday hours from 8:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. Menards will prove to be a valuable resource for the Northland with employment opportunities and economic growth in the expanding 152 corridor.

Bill Grigsby - The Prince of Parkville - may be returning to its downtown location to oversee such things and events as community festivals and parades. A commemorative statue of Bill was originally dedicated in 2007 at The National Golf Club where he was a regular. It has since been removed and placed in storage. A group of citizens led by the owner of Stone Canyon Pizza, Kevin Heaton, is putting forth an effort to move the statue to Pocket Park in downtown Parkville.

When, and if, the statue is placed in Pocket Park it will become the property of the city. But the citizen group will be responsible for the cost of moving, restoring, installing and maintaining the statue for several years after it is installed. And, Pocket Park is currently paved with bricks, purchased by donors, with inscriptions and some of those bricks or a bench would likely have to be moved to allow the status to be installed.

Bill was a regular host and emcee for the annual 4th of July parade in addition to hosting the Parkville Days River Fest Parade, Parkville Jazz Fest, and the Blue Grass Block Party. He was one of the original founders of Parkville's Christmas on the River. The main baseball field in English Landing Park is named Grigsby Field in his honor. He passed away in 2011 from complications associated with prostrate cancer.

Approval for a residential development of single family homes in Platte City is in place. Windmill Creek would be located on about 80 acres south of Highway 92 between I-29 and Bethel Road. The estimated average selling price for these homes is $225,000 with about 30 to 50 houses being built over the next 5+ years.

A development agreement is required by the Board of Alderman prior to beginning any development activity. The project will thus be done in phases, and the developer is responsible for all design, engineering, funding and construction of all interior road, curb and gutter, sidewalk, storm sewer, sanitary sewer, potable water, street lights, signage, fire protection, among other municipal improvements.

Saturday, December 3rd, is the date for the 5th Annual Platte County Day of Hope. This event was originally organized by the Platte County Health Department and the Platte City Ministerial Alliance to assist families with necessary items for the winter and provide long lasting hope. With over 28% of Platte County's kids qualifying for free or reduced price lunches - there are a significant number of households struggling financially.

The DAY OF HOPE has become a day of making a difference, as families will receive new coats, hats, gloves, socks, underwear and Christmas items for children along with groceries, hygiene products, free hair cuts and Community Resource information. More than 340 families (i.e. nearly 550 adults and almost 1,000 kids) are already registered. The need is real and growing. Donations of books, balls (i.e., baseballs, soccer balls, footballs, basketballs), board games or even gift cards for older children are welcomed.

Mark your calendars for October 21st at 5:30 p.m. to come to the Platte County Community Center North. All are invited to check out the laboratory at this year's Mad Scientist Trunk N Treat. This is a safe and unique way to trick or treat by going "Trunk to Trunk" in a truly family-friendly and festive atmosphere. The program will feature crafts, games, and inflatables, plus many local vendors that sponsor trunks and related holiday activities.

The Senior Health Fair and Caregiver Expo will be held on September 22, 2016. Admission is free. There will be 70 exhibitors, food, and even prizes will be given away. There will be several services offered at this Expo such as Caregiver Support Information, Blood Pressure Check, Flu Shots, Bone Density, and even Balance Screening. This is a great opportunity for anyone caring for a loved one or for a senior citizen to attend. This event will be at the Platte County Community Center North, 3101 Running Horse Road, Platte City, from 8:30-11:30 a.m.

This near 50 acre park and historic log cabin property, located in Platte County tells quite a story! Its roots go back to the mid 1800's after the opening of the Platte Purchase territory in 1836. Start dusting off that bike stored in your garage and head to the Pedal for Platte bike ride on October 15 at 9:00 a.m. in downtown Platte City. This bike ride is for bikers of all levels. There will be three routes available to choose from. All routes will travel through parks, trails and back roads of Platte County. A donation of $20 is being requested per family and or rider. Platte County Parks will be hosting this event on September 10th! This Missouri River Float Trip will launch at 9:00 a.m. at Shimmel City in Farley and end at Platte Landing Park in Parkville. Visit the Platte County Parks & Recreation website to register for this fun event!

The Annual Zona Rosa Arts Festival will be coming soon! Mark your calendars for the weekend of September 16-18 for the 13th annual Zona Rosa Arts Festival and Vintage Market. The Zona Rosa Arts Festival and Vintage Market is full of local art, re-purposed goods/furniture and vintage works, along with live music and dance performances at the Town Square. This event is free to the public.

The New Generations Singers will be performing at 7:00 p.m. on Sunday, August 21, 2016 at the Platte Purchase Building at the Platte County Fairgrounds. The group is composed of 85 high and college aged youth, and will present a genre of Christian music including pieces by its members.

The Platte County Sheriff's Department will host a Citizen's Academy starting on Wednesday, September 7, 2016 from 6:30-9:30 p.m. They will meet every Wednesday for nine weeks. The deadline to apply is September 2, 2016. Check the sheriff office website at plattesheriff.org to register or for more information.

Household hazard waste collection will be held Saturday, August 20, 2016 from 8:00 a.m -Noon. The event will be held at Platte Ridge Park off of 371 Hwy, north of Platte City. This event is open to all Platte County residents.
