Shawnee, Kansas is located in northwest Johnson County and was ranked 17th in Money Magazine’s “Best Places to Live” list in 2010. The 62,209 residents are served by the Shawnee Mission School District and the De Soto School District. Shawnee is home to the Old Shawnee Town Museum, Wonderscope Children’s Museum and the Johnson County Museum as well as Shawnee Mission Park with it’s 120-acre lake.
Mill Creek Streamway Park and the Gary L. Haller Trail are for outdoor enthusiasts who enjoy walking, running, biking and simply enjoying nature. The trail is approximately 17 miles long and runs through Shawnee, Lenexa and ends in Olathe. A good portion of the trail runs alongside scenic Mill Creek where you will encounter gorgeous bridges, trees and wildflowers. There are also park shelters along the way where you can stop and rest from your jog, or stop to have a picnic. Johnson County is lucky to have such great trails!
