Leawood, Kansas is a Kansas City suburb located in southeastern Johnson County and has a population of 31,867. It is served by the award winning Blue Valley School and Shawnee Mission School Districts. All five Blue Valley high schools were named to the Washington Post’s list of America’s most challenging high schools, accounting for half of the Kansas schools making the list. Incorporated in 1948, Leawood quickly became known for its lovely residential neighborhoods, excellent schools, and beautiful parks and still known for those qualities today. Over the past several years, the city has added many retail and office developments, including Park Place and Town Center.
Town Center is a shopping district in Leawood and comprises Town Center Plaza and Town Center Crossing. These shopping centers are located at 119th Street and Roe Avenue. The popular AMC Town Center 20 is located near Nall Avenue within this shopping area. Like most shopping zones in Kansas City, there is abundant free parking. Yes, Kansas Citians are certainly spoiled with their ease of parking and we love it! All of the "usual suspect" chain stores and restaurants are here and it is fair to say that this is a typical KC-style shopping center. It is an open air concept and not a mall. That's not so great during our harsh winters, but is certainly pleasant to walk around the rest of the year.
