It has been a tough year so far for buyers. Well, that seems to be changing. The days on market keep increasing. This means buyers have more inventory to choose from and have a fighting chance to find the home of their dreams!

Let's be honest, it has not been the best year as a buyer. Homes have been going under contract so very quickly. It may have been frustrating to make offer after offer on a home you love, but perseverance has been key. Need to keep pushing through. Still looking for a home? Homes are still selling quickly, however, we noticed that Days on Market is rising. It may be easier to find the home you like out there. If you took a break, it may be a good time to pop back in and find that dream home you have always wanted.

It's about that time, are you ready for some Sunday football games? I know this is the best part of the year as our fearless leader, Andy Reid, heads to training camp. Going through the roster to see who is going to stay and who is going, looking for that needle in the haystack. I'm a super fan as you can tell! I love how the entire KC metro lights up with excitement for our Kansas City Chiefs! Let's go Chiefs!

I spy with my little eye......hearts. A little over 150 to be exact. If you happen to be driving around the Jackson area, you might have seen a heart on display at your local grocery store, a school, or even your community park. Each one is done with love and with a powerful message that goes along with it. This surely signifies the support and unification from each Jackson County community. All hearts will be on display until the end of May. The hearts will then be auctioned off to raise funds and stay within the Kansas City region to support communities. Take a moment to see one, snap a photo, and take in the "heart-filled" artistic masterpieces.

You can’t come to Kansas City without getting your BBQ fix! Some of the local favorites are Jack Stack, Gates, and Arthur Bryants. My personal favorite is Oklahoma Joe's, an inconspicuous BBQ joint that also serves as a gas station. Celebrity chef Anthony Bourdain named Joe’s as one of the “13 Places You Must Eat Before You Die”. Here you can try a KC classic, the Z-Man. Piled high with brisket, provolone, onion rings, and BBQ sauce, this sandwich will have you coming back for more!

One of the greatest perks of moving to the midwest...Quiktrip! It might look like your typical gas station from the outside but Kansas City locals have been raving about Quiktrip's clean interior and delicious food for years. The QT Kitchen offers pizza, subs, wraps, tacos, breakfast, and many other great treats. Employees are always very kind as well!

Kansas City Salt Mine is an incredible experience. It’s not really a salt “mine”, but more like a spa atmosphere that uses Himalayan salt rocks to alleviate stress, assist with healing respiratory and skin ailments, and overall health and well-being. The Kansas City Salt Mine is very affordable, relaxing, and; whether you think this type of treatment is for you, it’s fun to be pampered in their spa-like rooms. Try it out!

The idea for this Ethnic Enrichment Festival stems from initially a parade. Since 1980 this idea has morphed into a fantastic festival of ethnic heritage from all corners of the earth. You not only have the opportunity to learn heritage but can taste food from all over the world, enjoy and participate in dance and entertainment. These family-friendly events promote acceptance and education for cultures new to children and adults alike. This event is usually held in August and is one you won't want to miss.

As Labor Day rolls around, we recognize that summer has seemingly come to an end. We celebrate the summer one last time. It is important to keep these few safety tips in mind during the weekend!

    1. Pack an emergency kit, rest assured, men are going to get hurt
    2. Check the weather the day before, the morning of, and periodically throughout the day
    3. Always use a personal flotation device, no you're not Michael Phelps
    4. Grill safely. Nope, do not lean over the grill and pour fuel on the fire. Your eyebrows cost too much
    5. Drink responsibly. You are absolutely not a "pro", they do not hand out awards for that type of behavior
    6. Enjoy!

Keep in mind, if you will be on Lakewood Lakes, east or west, Lakewood is a no wake lake!

When you're in a difficult and stressful situation involving your vehicle needing towed due to accident or breakdown, you need to be able to rely on services you can trust. Elite Tow Service is fast, efficient and has the safety of you and your vehicle as their top priority. Mike Nichols, with now 19 years of experience, started this company six years ago. With his crew and four trucks, they serve the Jackson County area 24/7. Being family and locally owned, they understand the importance of keeping you and your family safe in an emergency. With their services, you don’t have to worry about your vehicle.

On a personal note, I wouldn’t trust anyone else with my vehicle when it comes to needing a tow. The crew is nice, understanding, hard working and responsive. They have clean and efficient operating equipment. My family & I have never been let down and I truly think they are elite!
